A variety originally from Croatia under the name Crljenak, this variety is better known in Italy under the name of Primitivo or in California with Zinfandel. Very little planted in France, we offer it here 100%, from our plots surrounded by scrubland, a setting. in the field.

Marmorières has been the property of the Woillemont family since 1826. Surrounded by pine forests, scrubland and woods, the twenty grape varieties that make up the vineyard enjoy a mosaic of mainly clay-limestone soils on a drop of 100m for 350 hectares. Arranged in a horseshoe facing east and located 7km from the Mediterranean Sea, the Château de Marmorières benefits from an exceptional climate thanks to a very high level of sunshine and a maritime influence which tempers the semi-arid summer heat. The vineyard allows a slow maturation of the berries thanks to the depth of its soils and its full eastern exposure.
Our Zinfandel plots are located at an altitude of more than 100 m. The grapes ripen there surrounded by 150 hectares of scrubland and are picked when ripe after tasting the berries. The manual and unstemmed harvest is then put into ovoid vats according to the traditional Italian method which consists of putting a layer of unstemmed grapes, trampling then putting back a new layer of grapes and so on. The malolactic fermentation takes place for 6 months in barrels. Very careful work with a minimum of interventions reveals all the freshness and minerality of this terroir, which has been renowned for several millennia.
The nose is fine and fresh with spicy and minty notes. The mouth reveals an exceptional freshness with a nice minerality, aromas of Sichuan pepper and cherry.
To be enjoyed as an aperitif, on spicy dishes as well as on grilled meats. Serving temperature: 16°C-18°C
