Download Data sheetOverlooking the Mediterranean Sea from 40m, in the middle of the scrubland surrounded by a cirque of cliffs, the Commanderie de Saint Pierre la Garrigue enjoys an exceptional climate thanks to very strong sunshine and a maritime influence which tempers the semi-arid summer heat.
The plots are planted on clay-limestone Cretaceous soils with a presence of pebbles on the foothills of the cliffs.
The vineyard has two types of terroir, one facing east and fully receiving maritime freshness for optimal ripening of the berries, the other facing south for intense and structured wines.
The vines are grown in cordon de royat and guyot simple depending on the grape varieties and the plots.
The grapes are picked at maturity after tasting the berries according to the grape
varieties. The best plots of the Commanderie in Grenache Noir, Syrah, Carignan
and Mourvèdre are isolated, sorted, destemmed and vinified in concrete
and stainless steel vats. At the last third of the alcoholic fermentation, the wines are placed in French oak barrels of 225l, 300l, and 500l; they finish their alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in wood.
The barrels are then selected one by one and assembled after 10 months of aging.
Blend : Grenache Noir - Mourvèdre - Carignan - Syrah
The nose is powerful with notes of red fruits (burlat cherry, blackberry, peppermint).
On the palate, the wine has remarkable tension and freshness, the aromas of the nose reveal themselves with notes of truffles and accompany silky tannins, finely melted in remarkable fruit.
To taste with grilled red meats, veal kidneys with morels as well as capons stuffed with foie gras.
